History of Martinsville NJ

During the American Revolutionary War, the Middlebrook encampment was a seasonal encampment situated near Martinsville. The positioning of the encampment was such that it provided protection to the Continental Army. It was also the spot where the unfurling of the first official flag of the United States took place on 14th June, 1777 after Congress passed a law to adopt a national flag.
