History of Shrewsbury, MA

The town of Shrewsbury was first settled in 1722 and the official incorporation took place in 1727. It came to be known as an agricultural town soon enough, rich with apple orchards. By 1750, the town saw four taverns, two stores, and also numerous small industries going into operation.
